		<description>Hello from Ottawa, Edward!  You certainly raise some interesting questions here.  I don't know all the answers.  In my case, I would say that a photo is a digital capture of my surroundings.  I then use that as the raw material for further computer editing as I try to highlight and beautify the subject of my image using heavy contrast, bold colour and sharp detail.  Whether one uses chemical film processing or digital camera technology the goal, I believe,  is to turn out images that reflect the inner vision of the artist allowing the viewer to see through the eyes of another and so achieve an emotional response in the viewer.
